Objectives

The main objectives of the Into the Woodland Scope project are to address identified educational needs through the implementation of inclusive, out-of-school forest-based learning approaches.

The project aims to:

  • Promote inclusive education by providing equal learning opportunities for all students, with particular attention to learners with fewer opportunities, including those facing social, educational or health-related barriers. The project supports active participation, a sense of belonging and the reduction of exclusion and learning disadvantage.
  • Improve students’ physical and mental well-being by increasing their engagement in regular outdoor activities, reducing excessive screen time and supporting emotional balance, stress reduction and overall school motivation through learning in natural environments.
  • Develop green skills and environmental awareness by strengthening students’ understanding of natural ecosystems, biodiversity, sustainability and responsible environmental behaviour, and by fostering positive attitudes towards nature protection and climate responsibility.
  • Strengthen students’ social, emotional and communication skills through cooperative, experiential and student-centred activities that enhance empathy, teamwork, self-regulation, problem-solving and effective interaction with others.
  • Support teachers with innovative outdoor learning methodologies by improving their knowledge, skills and confidence in forest pedagogy and out-of-school education, enabling them to integrate inclusive, nature-based approaches into curriculum-based teaching in a sustainable way.

Through these objectives, the project contributes to the long-term improvement of teaching and learning practices and supports the holistic development of students.

The Into the Woodland Scope project is fully aligned with Erasmus+ priorities, particularly Inclusion and DiversityGreen Skills, and Physical and Mental Health and Well-being, and responds directly to the needs identified through the transnational needs analysis conducted among partner organisations.
